Portsmouth Historic Dockyard
On Thursday 15th March both the Little Owls Class and the Kingfishers Class went on a fantastic trip to Portsmouth Historic Dockyard!
A wonderful day was had by all at the Historic Dockyard!
Little Owls class have been learning about famous explorers and particularly wanted to find out all about Admiral Nelson while the Kingfishers studied the Tudors last term and have also started to learn about Explorers. They used what they had already learned about the Tudors to help them understand what life might have been like on the Mary Rose!
Both classes were lucky enough to take part in some exciting workshops and everyone was able to go on board The Victory and into The Mary Rose museum.
There were some rather gruesome parts to the trip-the pupils got to see the part of The Victory where surgery would have been performed on injured sailors and they also discovered that often the sailors had to eat food with maggots in! Yuck!
Parents and Carers are warmly invited to come in and see the wonderful work the pupils have completed following this fantastic trip-we think Henry VIII and Admiral Nelson would be very proud!
