Kingfishers' Class Blog
Welcome to Kingfishers' Class Blog
Thank you to everyone who managed to come to our Tudor day today, the children loved showing everyone what we had been doing and Miss Field, Mrs Stonehouse, Miss Wildman and I are extreamly proud of the learning that has taken place. An additional thank you to the adults who cooked us Tudor food for the afternoon, the nettle cake and some pottage. They went really well with our adapted ships biscuits.
What a fantastic topic it's been. A trip to Hampton Court Palace and to Portsmouth Historic Dockyard to see Henry's pride and joy, the Mary Rose.
We look forward to welcoming the parents of Kingfishers class on Tuesday for our celebration of all things Tudor.
Today we were Tudor doctors (Herb Wives, Apothecaries, Monks, Surgeons, Barbers) and we learnt about treating some different Tudor ailments identifying and using herbs.
We won the 'selling Christmas raffle tickets' competition and so we were given the prize of a chocolate cake. We decided to use it as partof our Maths lesson learning about fractions and it was a good chance to confirm that we would rather have 1/3 of the cake than 1/24, as it is much bigger.
Of course we then had to eat it!
It was delicious.
Ben brought in a Nativity Scene he made out of Gingerbread and it has filled our classroom with an amazing smell as well as looking fantastic. Well done Ben.
