Grandparent's Christmas Lunch
On Tuesday 19th December 2017, the Little Owls class prepared and served lunch to their Grandparents as a Christmas treat!
Tuesday 19th of December was a busy day! The pupils of Little Owls Class spent the morning preparing sandwiches, soup and cookies for their grandparents as a way of showing them how special they are to them!
The event was the culmination of their DT project which required them to design a Christmas menu and practise the skills to create the different dishes. They also then took the role of waiters and waitresses to the honoured guests. The children were thrilled that Father Edward also joined us for lunch and sat with a few children whose grandparents were unable to attend. He commented that the event was "a lovely idea and the behaviour of the children has been outstanding!"
Headteacher, Ms O'Toole said, "I think it is important to remember that our learning community involves far more people than we may usually see at the school and this time of year is the perfect opportunity to reach out to those other people that are so important to our pupils."
When asked what they had most enjoyed about the day, Liam (Year 1) said: "I have never been able to make special food for my Grandad before and he really liked it." Ava-Grace (Year R) added, "I didn't know I could make something so delicious!"
All the Grandparents that attended the lunch thoroughly enjoyed the experience and have called for it to be an annual event which Ms O'Toole is considering as long as she can recover in time!
